Sara Ramirez
Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actress, singer, and songwriter for many years. Her family was home-schooled by her mom in the USA. Her childhood was filled with racist taunts and being made to feel unwelcome. When she attended a 9th grade school audition where she received praises for her singing and acoustics, she began to gain confidence. It not only boosted her confidence but also shifted the direction she wanted to go in her career. She was a graduate of the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. In the year 23 she started her professional career, making her debut on Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films in You've got Mail. The biggest achievement of her career was with her portrayal of The Lady of The Lake on Spamalot's original Broadway production. She did not only win the Tony Award, but her performance was also praised by critics. The recognition grew even more by appearing on Grey's Anatomy on ABC as Dr. Callie Torres. In addition to having a cult following as a singer, she released a solo as well as an extended version. Also, she is an activist and works extensively for LGBT rights.
